In a sunny day characterized by safe and secured conditions, the Women Road Race take place at 12:15 (Brazil local time) for a total distance of 136, 9 km with a speed average 35.489 km/h.

The start list shows (68) entries from (39) National Olympic Committees among them (3) female riders from Africa, namely two from South Africa and one from Namibia.

Anna Van Der BREGGEN from Netherlands win the race with a time (3:51':27"), while the South African rider Ashleogh MOOLMAN-PASIO confirms her good competitiveness and ranked the 10th place with a time gap (+1':14"). Her compatriot An-Li KACHELHOFFER ranked the 39th place with a time gap (+10':02").

Although the Namibian rider Vera ADRIAN shows good performance, she could not finished the race.
