Late last week, the President of the African Cycling Confederation (CAC) conducted a guided visit of Cairo velodrome site. In fact, on 27, 28 and 29 of May CAC Legal Commission chaired by Mr. Mohamed Sahnoon, President of the Ghana Cycling Federation and composed of Mr. Thierry Rwabusaza, Secretary General of the Rwandan Cycling Federation and the Secretary General of the CAC s' met in Cairo. They were assisted by the President Azzam and Mr. Mohamed Belmahi, President of the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation and member of UCI Management Committee.
On the sidelines of their work, President Azzam suggested that they visit the velodrome site. Some members from the Management Committee of the Egyptian Cycling Federation were present during this visit. A distinguished guest present in Cairo did not wanted to miss this visit. Mr. Emin MÜFTÜOGLU, President of the Turkish Cycling Federation was present during this visit.
This is a great site where it is planned the construction of a wooden track of 250m x 250m and facilities for the practice of BMX discipline. The President Azzam, CAC President but also President of the Egyptian Cycling Federation shall got the standing ovation for convincing the authorities of the Pharaohs country of the need to invest in these facilities.
Certainly Egyptian youth is the first who going to benefit from this project, but beyond is the African youth that is "the favorite" No doubt that this beautiful complex will host the next year the African Track Championship.
