The 13th Tropicale Amissa Bongo takes place in January in Gabon 16-01-2018
African cycling is in development with the organization of international tours such as the Tropicale Amissa Bongo (TAB) since 2006, a Tour registered in the UCI Africa Tour calendar and classified (2.1). This year's 13th edition will take place from January 15th to 21st, 2018.
The race will take place particularly in the northern part of Gabon where the riders could show their performance on various lands go to neighboring Cameroon in Ambam.
The teams that will participate in this race are: • Professional teams like: 1. Jean-René Bernaudeau's team (DIRECT ENERGIE), a professional team that participates most often in the Tropicale. The team comes to Gabon for the 11th time. The last two winners of the Tropicale, Adrien Petit (2016) and Yohan Gène (2017) are present to offer an 8th success in Gabon. 2. The Marseille team (DELKO) 3. The German team (BIKE AID) 4. The Portuguese team (TAVIRA) coming to Gabon for the first time. 5. The Italian team (WILIER) Pro-Continental team. 6. The Algerian team (SOVAC) • As for the African selections, there are Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Morocco, Rwanda and Tunisia.
Eight Africans have already won one stage, South African James Ball, Eritreans Daniel Teklehaimanot, Natnael Berhane, Frekalsi Debesay and Meron Abraham, Rwandan Bonaventure Uwizeyimana, Moroccans Tarik Chaoufi and Adil Jelloul. Natnael Berhane was the first African to win the final classification in 2014 followed by Tunisian Rafaâ Chtioui in 2015.
